Privacy policy
In short: your data lives on your phone. Klyn has no accounts, no servers storing your information, no ads and no tracking. The only thing that leaves your phone is what you send to the AI, only if you turn it on, using your own key.
Who we are
Klyn is an expense-tracking app developed by Cristian Leonardo Sanchez Rivera, an individual, based in Bogotá, Colombia. For any privacy question, write to privacidad@onklyn.com.
What data Klyn handles and where it stays
- What you record: transactions, accounts, categories, budget, goals, fixed payments, debts, notes and receipt photos. They are stored in a database on your phone.
- Your preferences: profile name, currency, language and settings. They also stay on the phone.
- We do not collect your real name, email, location, contacts, advertising identifiers or usage statistics. Klyn includes no third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools.
- Android's automatic backup is turned off for Klyn, so your data is not uploaded to your Google account.
Klyn backups
Klyn saves copies of your data in a .klyn file in your phone's Documents/Klyn folder, when you ask and automatically when you open the app. You can protect them with a password, in which case the file is encrypted. Those backups are never uploaded to any server of ours: you decide whether to move them to another phone, your computer or the cloud.
Reading notifications
If you grant permission, Klyn reads notifications from your bank and wallet apps to detect payments and record them for you. That analysis happens on the phone. Notifications that don't look like a transaction are ignored, and the ones kept for review stay on the phone, where you can delete them at any time. You can revoke the permission at any time from Android's or Klyn's settings.
Artificial intelligence (optional)
Klyn can use Google's Gemini to understand what you type, read receipt photos, title notifications, suggest categories and answer questions about your spending. It is off by default and only works if you add your own Gemini API key.
- When you use it, Klyn sends directly to Google what that task needs: the text you type, the photo you pick, the notification text, or the transactions and totals needed to answer your question.
- Google processes that data under its Gemini API terms and its privacy policy. Note: on the free tier of the API, Google may use the content to improve its products.
- Your key is stored encrypted in the phone's secure storage. You can delete it, or turn the AI off, at any time.
- Every connection to Google is encrypted (HTTPS).
Camera, photos and files
The camera is used to scan QR codes of shared debts and to photograph receipts, only when you ask. Photos are stored on the phone with their transaction. To import or export files you use the system picker; the exported file is yours and you decide who to share it with.
What you share
If you share a debt (by link or QR), that link carries the name, amount and description you chose. It only leaves the phone when you send it.
This website
onklyn.com uses no cookies, analytics or ads, and loads nothing from third parties: the fonts are served from the site itself. Like any web server, the host keeps technical logs of each visit's IP address and browser, to serve the page and protect it from abuse. If you join the testers group, Google runs that group with your Google account, under Google's privacy policy; we only use it to invite you to Klyn's test on Google Play.
Retention and deletion
Data stays as long as you keep the app. You can delete single transactions, a whole profile's data from Settings, or everything by uninstalling Klyn. You delete the .klyn backups on your phone, or wherever you saved them, yourself. Since we keep no copies, once deleted we cannot recover it.
Your rights
Under Colombia's Law 1581 of 2012 and similar laws, you can access, update, correct and delete your data. Since everything lives on your phone, you can do it directly in the app. If you have questions, write to privacidad@onklyn.com.
Children
Klyn is meant for people 18 and over and is not directed at minors.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will publish the new version on this page with its date. If a change affects what data leaves the phone, we will also tell you inside the app.
